Rotary Centers for International Studies
in peace and conflict resolution

Today, there are more than 30 ongoing conflicts around the globe. To promote world peace and develop the next generation of community and world leaders, Rotary recently established the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. The Rotary Centers program — created in partnership with eight prestigious universities worldwide — works to train future leaders in international relations, peace, and conflict resolution and develop social and political policies that will help prevent future conflicts.

Each year 70 Rotary World Peace Scholars are chosen from countries and cultures around the world. USD$20 million is the estimated cost to provide full scholarships for the first five classes of scholars.

Rotary's Peace Scholars study in two-year master's-level degree or certificate programs focused on international relations, peace, conflict resolution and related subjects. The scholars are chosen from a world-competitive pool of applicants.

Share the Vision

The Rotary Foundation has partnered with eight leading universities around the world to establish the Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. Each year, Rotary will select 70 scholars to study at one of the seven Rotary Centers worldwide. The selected Rotary World Peace Scholars will begin two-year master's-level degree programs in conflict resolution, peace studies, and international relations. Each Rotary district may nominate one candidate for the selection process. The inaugural Rotary Centers program will take place during the 2002-03 academic year (2003 academic year in the Southern Hemisphere).
