JUNE 2003
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Fellow Rotarians:
I want to thank each and every member of the Jasper Rotary Club for helping me this year as President. I could not have done it alone. We have several milestones in this year. We dedicated the plaque for the clock and distributed all the miniature clocks. Our Egg Hunt fundraiser was our best yet. The Polio Plus program was a success and we have exceeded our pledge by contributions of $3800.00. We have as a club contributed to organizations such as the Kid One, ARC of Walker County, Polio Plus, Boy Scouts, Girls Club, DME Shoe Fund, Youth Leadership Walker County, International program, and made three scholarship awards to Walker High School Interact students. The Gun raffle was re-instituted and was a success.
I appreciate any time a member has contributed to the club in attending meetings; hosting a good speaker; proposing a new member; working or playing the golf tournament; working before or at the egg hunt; participating in the Job Shadow program; selecting a team for the football picks; helping with the hospitality of the GSE team; reading at one of the schools; or ringing the bell for Salvation Army. We have all shown that our individual time and talent when combined makes the difference between an average and a strong club. If this was not your best year to contribute your time and/or your talent please consider the new year just about to begin. There are many opportunities to make the club more exciting and more rewarding.
Best regards to Pam Fikes as she steps into the role of President. Lets all continue to strive to meet the four way test and support her efforts in the 2003-2004 year.
Yours in Service
Linda Burns
