LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Thank you to all the members who participated in activities while the Group Study Exchange was in Jasper. The cook out, industry and city tours, transportation, housing, sports, entertainment and hospitality was first rate. Particular appreciation to Steve Hager for the Smith Lake tour in his boat; Haig Wright for hosting the cook out; Gwaltney and Libbo McCollum opening their lake home for relaxation on Saturday; Alec Grant for coordination of all the activities and transportation; St. Mary’s for the use of their bus; all members and spouses who attended the activities and planned the cookout; Lou and Shelia vick, Alec Grant, Trudie and Reza Seirafi, Larry Lapkovitch and Brenda McClinton for housing the guests. It was a nice event for the club to participate in and get to know our Australian guests. They will end their trip at the convention the last week of April.

The Easter Egg Hunt was a success. I do not have the final net income, but the weather was perfect and the turnout enormous. Special thanks go out to Trudie Seirafi for planning the many events; Sabrina Keating for getting our tickets printed gratis; Gerson May for coordinating the ticket distribution and money collection; Bill Ashenfelter for his assistance too; Cynthia Snow for activities; and all who either purchased tickets and/or worked the day of the egg hunt. It takes all our members to make this a great day and a major income producer. This also is our contribution to the community in the way of a fun activity and for financial gifts as well. I appreciate everyone for helping out!

Our annual banquet is this month and scheduled for May 8th . Please come and enjoy the fun and fellowship of your fellow Rotarians and a good comedy act. All Jasper Rotarians and their significant other are welcome to attend. There is no charge for this event. Hope to see you there.

Yours in Service

Linda Burns

    WHO AM I?

I have been employed by the same organization for 18 years, but I am constantly looking for new jobs. Although this takes up much of my time I do find room in my schedule to work with local committees and community organizations in Walker County. For fun I enjoy playing an ancient Scottish instrument and may be seen dancing an Irish Jig! Later this month, I’ll trade kilts and pipes for a Bush Hat and a Didgeridoo as I go to the Land Down Under! WHO AM I?
